Stressed and Worried? Read This One Quote

Stressed and Worried? Read This One Quote
"You can have 1000 problems in life until you have a health problem, and then you only have one. Everything else you worried about – money, stress, relationship problems – fades away in the shadow of it. Suddenly the things you once worried about seem so small."

"Health is everything. It's the ability to wake up and feel alive, to move freely, laugh without pain, to breathe without struggle. We take it for granted until it's gone. That's why taking care of yourself isn't a luxury, it's an act of love – a gift to your future self."

When we face a significant health problem, it's like wearing glasses for the first time – we can clearly see what is (and isn't) truly important to one's life.

"Unknown Cause, No Treatment, You Might Get Better in Three Years"

This is what my neurologist told me in 2021 when I came down with a severe illness – numb hands, nerve pain, brain fog, chronic fatigue, visual disturbances, insomnia, nausea, and more.

All other worries in my life faded away, and all I could think of was if I could regain my health again. I remember seeing people go about their day exercising, socializing, and laughing, and I wondered, "Do they even know how lucky they are?" I wished for nothing but health to live my life again.

After months of persisting sickness, I had to accept that this might be the "new normal" for me. But, I wasn't going to let my sickness hold me back from living my life to the fullest. So I signed up for my first marathon which I wrote about here.

Thankfully, most of my symptoms have resolved after 3 years, and I've been enjoying good health since.

Nowadays, when I feel anxious or worried about something, I think back to those years of poor health, and the stress of what I'm currently dealing with quickly fades away.

Thinking It Makes It So

If you think whatever is worrying you now is the worst thing to have happened to you, you start to believe it is.

As Shakespeare wrote in Hamlet, "There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking it makes it so."

Next time you feel stressed, remember that if you have your health, you can overcome anything.
